Our young Blues travel to Cheltenham to play the final group-stage game in the Papa John's Trophy, having already secured qualification to the next round. This will be a good chance for boss Andy Myers to assess other players in the squad as well as build on the recent positive form.
The Jonny-Rocks Stadium will see our boys take on Cheltenham Town, who currently sit in 13th place in League One. We will be looking to remain unbeaten in the competition by putting in a good display against Cheltenham, who sit bottom of the group with one point.
How we qualified
Revisiting our last two games in this competition against Exeter City and Bristol Rovers, Myers will be fairly pleased about the way we secured qualification. A penalty shoot-out win against Exeter gave us the much-needed surge in confidence, while a professional win over Bristol Rovers, despite the high number of absentees, highlighted the team's capabilities.
In the game against Exeter, a late goal in normal time denied us the three points. This was all after Bryan Fiabema had given us the lead with a fine finish underneath the keeper.
Against Rovers, apart from a short spell early in the first half, we were quite dominant and the more adventurous side. It was a great display from the boys and despite conceding first, we fought back through an own goal after pressure from Jayden Wareham and a Lewis Baker shot from a corner.
Cheltenham's form
The Robins, after two games and with one point, will find it tough to qualify. Two quick-fire goals in the second-half of their first game against Bristol Rovers and a 2-2 draw against Exeter where they failed to pick up an extra point in that match after losing the penalty shoot-out, leaves them bottom of the group.
To qualify, they would have to beat our Blues and also hope for a draw in the other fixture in this group between Bristol Rovers and Exeter City.
In League One they currently sit 13th. In their last six games, they have won two games and lost four. This season they have scored 17 goals and conceded 24.
