The form

Prior to going on international duty, earlier in October, the Blues returned victorious from an entertaining away fixture against Juventus in the Champions League with Hayes’ side taking home a 2-1 win. Cuthbert’s strike gave us the lead with just over half-an-hour gone with Juventus responding with a volley from Barbara Bonansea, but it was Pernille Harder who supplied the winning shot to take home the all-important victory.

In FA Cup action, the Blues last faced Birmingham City in the quarter-final of the tournament, a 4-0 win away at St Andrew’s. A double from Fran Kirby and two further goals from Sam Kerr and Pernille Harder helped to secure our place in the last four of last season’s competition. Prior to the semi-final, the Blues secured wins over London City Lionesses and Everton.

City have won two of their last four games across all tournaments and secured their place in the semi-final with victories over Aston Villa, West Ham United and Leicester City. They head into the tie with a number of key players out through injury and currently sit ninth in the WSL.

Elsewhere in the competition, Arsenal face Brighton in the second of the semi-finals this weekend in a bid to make it to Wembley for the tournament's 50th anniversary.

Chelsea Women vs Manchester City Women recent head-to-head record

Chelsea and Manchester City are not strangers in the competition, having met four times in the past seven years at the semi-final stage, with City having won three of the past four finals, aiming for their third consecutive tournament victory.

The two sides last played each other in a tantalising 2-2 draw at the Academy Stadium in the WSL back in April.

Next up for the Blues

Chelsea’s next test after City will be Aston Villa away back in league action. The match takes place on Saturday 6 November and has a 12.30pm (UK) kick-off.
