Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount were absent from training as the Blues began the final session before Tuesday’s Champions League visit to Malmo.

The first 15 minutes of the training were streamed live on chelseafc.com and The 5th Stand app and it was expected Lukaku, Werner and Kovacic would not take part. The two strikers were injured during the home meeting with Malmo a fortnight ago. Thomas Tuchel said on Friday he does not expect them to be back before the international break.Kovacic suffered a hamstring injury at the end of training prior to the weekend’s Newcastle match. He is also expected to miss the next two games as a minimum. Mount fell ill on the eve of Saturday’s game.Christian Pulisic continued to train today having re-joined the group last week. Academy attacking midfielder Harvey Vale took part in the session.

Tuchel said on Friday: ‘Christian is looking forward to the Burnley match. If everything goes right, he should be in the squad then and ready to play.’
