Shevchenko takes new managerial challenge

Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is the new manager of Serie A side Genoa.

The 45-year-old Blues icon replaces Davide Ballardini who was sacked by the club on Saturday.

Shevchenko recently led Ukraine to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020, where they were beaten 4-0 by England in Rome, but left his role in August.

The Ukrainian, who won the League Cup and the FA Cup whilst at Stamford Bridge, has signed a three-year deal with a statement on the club’s website confirming the appointment.

‘Genoa announces that Andriy Shevchenko has reached an agreement with 777 Partners and will lead the Grifone until 30 June 2024,' the report states.

‘Genoa and 777 Partners warmly welcome Mr. Shevchenko and wish him a fruitful job at the helm of the oldest club in Italy.’

Genoa are currently 17th in Serie A after 12 games, having picked up one win all season.

Chelsea linked to Fulham playmaker

Chelsea are being linked to exciting Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho after the 19-year-old reportedly rejected a new deal at Craven Cottage.

Caravalho has represented England up to Under-18 level, and Eurosport are reporting that Chelsea are among a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the Portugal-born playmaker.

‘Fulham believe Fabio Carvalho’s head has been turned by interest from Real Madrid yet there are offers in the Premier League that are also being considered,’ the report states.

‘Liverpool, Chelsea and Southampton have all been monitoring his situation with an eye of taking advantage of a contract situation that is likely to see him leave Craven Cottage at the end of this season.

‘Liverpool and Chelsea are both being kept in the loop over any offers though - and Real Madrid are putting together their proposal at the moment.’

Lampard early front-runner for Canaries job

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is leading the race to become the new manager of Norwich City, after the club sacked Daniel Farke on Saturday evening.

Lampard has been out of work since leaving Stamford Bridge in January earlier this year and according to talkSPORT, the 43-year-old is in frame to take the job.

‘Despite securing their first win of the season away to Brentford, Daniel Farke was made surplus to requirements at Carrow Road,' the report explains.

‘With an international break now in place for the next two weeks, the Canaries will want a swift appointment and according to bookmakers, Lampard could be that man,’ the report states.

‘It would not be a surprise to see Lampard back in the dugout given the experience he obtained at Chelsea.’

Lampard was in charge of the Blues for a season-and-a-half and secured Champions League qualification for the season in which we ended up winning the competition.

‘Only time will tell if Lampard is in the dugout at Carrow Road but the club will want to act quickly as they look to build on their first win of the season,’ the story concludes.
