Young Blues' Youth Cup opponents revealed

Chelsea’s Under-18s will begin our campaign in the FA Youth Cup with a tie against Leyton Orient.

Ed Brand’s side currently sit top of the Under-18 Premier League southern section and will be looking to continue their good form in this year’s edition of the Youth Cup.

The tie is due to be played on Saturday 11 December at one of our Academy venues. Brand and the boys will be aiming to give an improved account of themselves following last year’s 2-1 fifth-round exit to Everton where Joe Haigh found himself on the scoresheet (pictured top).

A number of players from last year’s squad including Harvey Vale and Jude Soonsup-Bell will be eligible but there will be debutants to keep an eye out for.

Leyton Orient beat Newport in the second round this week to set up the tie. Fixture information will be announced on this website in due course.

In other news, over the weekend our development squad were drawn against in-form Forest Green Rovers in round two of the Papa John’s Trophy. That game is scheduled for a 7pm kick-off on Tuesday 30 November.

Before that fixture, our development squad will be in action immediately after the international break, with a 1pm kick-off game away at Leeds United. This game will be livestreamed on the Chelsea website and The 5th Stand app.
