When Kai Havertz found the net in our most recent game at Stamford Bridge, he did more statistically than just put the Blues ahead against Burnley and score his fourth goal of the season.
The 22-year-old also had the honour of registering the 2000th goal by our men’s team since Roman Abramovich became owner of the club back in 2003. That’s a lot of goals, and with this being Chelsea with the players we have had in the team during those 18-plus years, there are a lot of extremely good ones among them.
But which is the best of them all?
For the answer to that we are turning to our supporters to decide. We have drawn up a short-list (although it is not that short!) of those we consider the best goals from the 2000 in terms of pure quality of the strike rather than the importance or special significance of it.
It wasn’t easy. There are plenty of goals it was tough to leave out but a line had to be drawn somewhere. In some cases there were very similar efforts by the same player so we have opted for which we believe the better of two to ensure variety, and we have that in the list with a selection of rockets, mazy dribbles, great team moves and more.
So enjoy watching the goals video below and then under that make your choice for best goal of the first 2000 scored under Roman Abramovich’s ownership. And remember, we are asking you to choose on sheer quality of goal rather than on any other meaning.
