Hazard makes the cut for Kompany’s five-a-side team

Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has named ex-Blues star Eden Hazard in his all-time five-a-side team.

The Belgian compatriots competed against each other at the top level for years, but also shared the pitch together for their national team.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel Five, the Anderlecht manager was quick to name Hazard amongst his squad, which includes some great players of the Premier League era.

‘Sergio Aguero, David Silva,’ said Kompany, as he listed his players.

‘It’s got to be Eden Hazard hasn’t it?’ said the presenter.

‘You’ve just thrown that one in there, curveball,’ Kompany said, smirking. ‘I’ve got to go with Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne, that’s two more.

‘Can I be coach? Then I’ll go with Yaya [Toure].’

Hoddle on who inspired him to become a manager

Glenn Hoddle has opened up on the manager which inspired him to have a career in the dugout and the positive influences he inhabited from him, in an interview with Goal.

Hoddle managed Chelsea for three years between 1993 and 1996 whilst also still playing for the club and insists that ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was a huge influence on him, both on and off the pitch.

The 64-year-old played under Wenger at Monaco in the late 1980’s, and was voted as the best foreign player in 1988 after socring eight goals in their title winning season.

‘Arsene was an eye-opener,’ Hoddle said ahead of the launch of a documentary airing on BT Sport about his life in football.

‘I learned from his approach on nutrition, training, the organisation of his staff and the clarity of what he wanted from his team.

‘It was totally different to England and it was more organised and focused. Every session was like an event to Arsene and it rubbed off on me. I didn't know I would go into coaching before making the move, I just wanted to play for Monaco,’ admitted Hoddle.

‘But Arsene was the one who first spoke to me about going into management, he said he thought I had it in me. He saw that in me before I saw it in myself. I came back and then went to Swindon after and it influenced me in a big way.’

Napoli star full of praise for Jorgi

Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly has spoken very positively of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, after they shared the pitch together at Napoli.

Koulibaly is approaching nearly 300 appearances for Napoli and has been a mainstay in their side for the best part of seven years, with the defender revealing that Jorginho is one of his favourite ever team-mates.

Chelsea signed the Italian midfielder from Napoli when Maurizio Sarri joined the club in 2018, and when speaking to DAZN, cited by Football Italia, the Senegalese international spoke highly of our number five.

‘It was the first person I shared the room with when I arrived in Naples,’ the 30-year-old Koulibaly said.

‘He taught me a little of Italian, I remember he used to correct me. He is an extraordinary player on the pitch, so important for Chelsea and Italy.

Jorginho has gone on to become a phenomenal player for the Blues, and has recently surpassed 150 appearances in SW6.

‘I had fun playing with him' added the defender. 'One stare was enough to understand each other.’
