Andy Myers and his Under-21 side face a tricky away trip to the League Two runaway leaders Forest Green Rovers in the Papa John's Trophy tonight.

The second round tie is due to start at 7pm UK time and here we preview the showdown in Gloucestershire...

Team news

Myers will have a huge decision on his hands as he decides who starts this tough game, against a very good opponent.

Following the most recent international break, Josh Brooking and Ted Sharman-Lowe have not featured due to niggling injuries. George Nunn is still expected to be out as he has not yet recovered from his injury.

Silko Thomas suffered a concussion in the Under-18s game against Brighton but should be in contention to start.

How we got there

The group stage of this competition was fairly comfortable for us, as in normal time in our three games we were unbeaten.

Our first fixture against Exeter City ended in a 1-1 draw where a late goal denied us the victory in normal time. We did secure the extra point that was on offer by winning the penalty shoot-out.

In our next match, we faced Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers and despite gaining victory in that one (2-1), the scoreline flattered the hosts as we created numerous chances to increase our lead. Goals from Jayden Wareham and Lewis Baker were enough to secure the victory.

Our final group match was 0-0 draw with the already-eliminated Cheltenham Town. We ended up losing the penalty shoot-out, but this was not costly.

The opposition

This is a tricky test for Myers and his young side as they face a tough and in-form outfit. The Gloucestershire-based team currently sit on top of League Two, six points ahead of their closest rival in second. They have also only lost two games, having played 18 matches.

In addition, they have scored the most and conceded the fewest in the league. This underlines the size of the task at hand.

Their last defeat was a 2-0 loss to Swindon Town in the league as they are currently unbeaten in six. However, they did lose to Conference South side St Albans City recently in the FA Cup, finishing on the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline, having taken the lead in that game.
