Sturridge plays part in encouraging Covid vaccine

Daniel Sturridge has created a song encouraging people to get their Covid-19 vaccines.

The ex-Chelsea striker, who now plays for Perth Glory in Australia, is stuck in isolation after a team-mate tested positive and made the song to the beat of Drake’s ‘Take a shot for me’.

In a report by the Daily Mail, Sturridge apparently put the video on Instagram with the caption: 'Take the shot for me. I'm Covid free baby!! Hotel quarantine banter,' with two cry-laughing emojis.

‘The song, posted to his 3.5million followers, already has more than 70,000 likes and 341 comments, including some from Premier League footballers and former team-mates,’ the story states.

Ex-Chelsea player Ryan Bertrand was one of a number of Premier League stars to comment on the video, alongside TV pundit Micah Richards and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.

Blues linked with Wolves midfielder

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Ruben Neves of Wolves as the club look to bolster our midfield options.

The Portuguese international joined the West Midlands club from Porto in 2017 and has been a mainstay in their side from the Championship through to the top-flight.

A report by Spanish media outlet Fichajes now links the 24-year-old to SW6.

‘Thomas Tuchel has demanded to increase the options of the squad in order to face the second part of the season,' the report states.

‘According to our information, Ruben Neves is one of the options that Thomas Tuchel would have proposed.

‘The German has been pleasantly surprised by the performances of the Portuguese international in the Premier and right now it would be his bet to reinforce the core.’

Neves has made 17 Premier League appearances this season under new manager Bruno Lage and is an important cog in their side, so they understandably do not want to sell.

‘The main drawback would be that Wolves are not willing to part with one of its references and will only sit down to negotiate from €45M.’

Jenas on 'classy' Thiago

One Chelsea player was singled out for praise on Match of the Day 2 last night after Chelsea’s stalemate at Wolves in the Premier League.

One huge positive was a clean sheet for the Blues, the first in six matches, and Brazilian Thiago Silva was key to that once again.

In a report by the Metro, TV pundit Jermaine Jenas singled out Thiago for praise.

‘But this guy Thiago Silva was so classy throughout, everything he did. He looked like he was playing in third or fourth gear at times,’ said Jenas.

‘He’s never rushed and has quality on the ball with those forward passes.’

Thiago attempted a whopping 123 passes at Molineux, more than double that of the top Wolves player, Ruben Neves (60), and was accurate in 96 per cent of these passes.

‘He did really well, it was a top performance from a top player,’ Jenas added.
