Jorginho was back involved in Chelsea training at Cobham this evening after returning a negative Covid test ahead of our quarter-final Carabao Cup tie with Brentford, as were both N'Golo Kante and Trevoh Chalobah.

The latter pair were both involved despite Thomas Tuchel suggesting neither would feature against the Bees on Wednesday evening.

Kante played 90 minutes at Wolves after recently returning from injury and the Chelsea head coach said 'we will give him time to recover and prepare for Aston Villa' on Boxing Day, while Chalobah was withdrawn at half-time at Molineux.

Jorginho, meanwhile, was sent home on the morning of Sunday's match at Wolves with what turned out to be a false positive test result for the virus. The likes of Mateo Kovacic, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Reece James were all also in high spirits at our Surrey training complex as we look to make it to the semi-final stage in this competition for the first time since the 2018/19 season.

Also joining the usual faces were a number of Academy players who have stepped up from the Under-23 age group in light of the Blues currently dealing with six Covid-enforced absences. Andreas Christensen is also 'very doubtful with injury and the same for Trevoh Chalobah', according to Tuchel. Among those youngsters stepping up were George McEachran, Lewis Hall, Charlie Webster and Jude Soonsup-Bell, all regulars for our development squad this term.
