Travelling all the way from Devon, college students from Mount Kelly visited the capital to watch Chelsea Women take on Juventus at Kingsmeadow, tour Stamford Bridge and more.

Female participants on the Chelsea Foundation’s Girls’ Performance Football programme were given a tour of Stamford Bridge where they watched Chelsea Women’s Champions League fixture against Juventus and played in their very own fixture against another Chelsea college academy.

The team took part in a friendly fixture against Blenheim College as part of their action-packed two-day trip to London, with Mount Kelly running out 4-1 winners.

Steve Shipp, Chelsea Foundation’s senior officer for Surrey and head coach for Blenheim, said: ‘It’s been a great experience for both sets of players and staff, the standard was very high and some of the football played and goals scored were exceptional.

‘To develop our programmes further with events such as this can only further promote our female college programmes in a positive light, and we are already planning a return fixture.’

Tommy Wheeldon, Mount Kelly’s director of football, said: ‘The girls had a wonderful experience visiting Stamford Bridge and watching the women’s team in Champions League action, and concluded the trip with a competitive fixture against Blenheim!’
