Exclusive video interview: N’Golo Kante opens up on his Chelsea journey, Porto smiles and dealing with fame

N'Golo Kante | 5 Years a Blue

In 5 Years a Blue, celebrating N’Golo Kante’s time at Chelsea so far, the midfielder gives a revealing video interview on a broad range of subjects, among which he discusses his progress since joining the Blues, reflects on the setbacks he has overcome, and considers his iconic personality traits.

Kante’s professional career has been something of a footballing fairytale, but there was plenty of disappointment and hard work before it even got to that stage, as he explains to French football journalist Julien Laurens in his mother tongue.

The midfielder delves into the story behind his move to Chelsea back in 2016 and the memorable debut that nearly ended abruptly, as well as the feelings our Champions League triumph this year stirred inside him.

‘We were not favourite so winning felt great,’ says Kante in 5 Years a Blue, which you can watch in full above.

‘The trophy is just a plus but really, the journey will stay with us for a long time, and we will always remember it.

‘Sometimes when we talk about it, it makes us smile, or when we see the footage at the training ground, we always have a smile. When we win, frankly, I just want to enjoy the moment and celebrate with the fans.’

Kante goes on to talk about the times when he bumps into those Blues supporters, and why there is more to his humble personality than he lets on. There is also analysis from Thomas Tuchel who explains why it is such a delight to be able to call upon our sensational no.7.
