Guardiola does not think title race is over

Manchester City moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League with victory at Brentford last night after our draw with Brighton and Liverpool’s loss at Leicester on Tuesday.

Many pundits believe that the title race is all but over, but Pep Guardiola does not think that is the case, as he explained in his post-match press conference yesterday.

‘There are many games to go,’ said Guardiola, as reported by the Guardian.

‘We are eight points in front but there are 54 still to play for and many tough games still to play. I’m not going to believe anyone who says it’s already done.

‘The teams we have with Chelsea and Liverpool are more than exceptional. One is a European champion and Liverpool have been our big rival in the last three or four years.

‘We have the distance not because they dropped points but because we won 10 in a row,’ he added.

Emerson recall denied

Lyon have rejected Chelsea’s request to recall Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell, according to L’Equipe via Get Football News France.

The reports suggest the Blues have tried to end the Italian’s international temporary stay at Lyon early following the news Ben Chilwell requires surgery.

The report states Emerson is on loan with an option to buy and Chelsea do not have a formal recall clause in the agreement.

Theo Hernandez linked with move

With that development in mind, the Daily Mail via Tuttosport reports Chelsea have been in touch with AC Milan regarding the availability of Theo Hernandez.

The French left-back has been attracting interest from all over Europe, with the Mail reporting ‘the Italian giants have slapped a £50million price tag on the French defender’.

‘No official negotiation has begun and Milan chiefs are understood to be against selling Hernandez, who has also been linked with moves to Manchester City and PSG,’ it continues.

'Chelsea and Milan have had good transfer dealings over the years, with Olivier Giroud, Fikayo Tomori and Tiemoue Bakayoko all moving from west London to Italy, although players have rarely moved from the San Siro to Stamford Bridge.'
