Chelsea vs Liverpool head to head

Chelsea stats

Our next goal will take Chelsea to 100 across all competitions in the Thomas Tuchel era. Liverpool will be his 61st match in charge.

The Blues are looking to keep a clean sheet at home in the Premier League for the first time since our 7-0 victory over Norwich in October.

Mason Mount has been directly involved in 12 Premier League goals this season (seven goals, five assists), the most of any English player.

Chelsea have only won three (all away) of our last 10 first Premier League games of a calendar year, the most recent of which was 3-0 at Crystal Palace in 2016. Our last home win was 7-2 against Sunderland in 2010.

We have dropped 11 points from leading positions in the Premier League this season.

Milestones

Cesar Azpilicueta made his 450th Chelsea appearance against Brighton as well as his 300th start in the Premier League. Only three other players have started 300 games in the competition for the Blues – John Terry 473, Frank Lampard 404 and Petr Cech 332.

Edouard Mendy made his 50th Premier League appearance against Brighton.

Liverpool ended 2021 in the same way they started it, by failing to score in an away match. The Reds had netted in each of their last 28 on the road in all competitions between these two games (75 goals in total).

Against Leicester on Tuesday, the Reds failed to score for the first time in 29 Premier League games, and for the first time since a 1-0 home defeat to Fulham in March.

Mohamed Salah’s miss from the spot in that game ended his run of 15 consecutive Premier League penalties.

Liverpool’s defeat at Leicester was only their second in the Premier League since 7 March. West Ham were the other team to beat them in November. Apart from those two away defeats, the Reds have won six on the road this season at Norwich, Leeds, Watford, Man Utd, Everton and Wolves and drawn two at Brentford and Tottenham.

Liverpool haven’t won any of their last six games against reigning European champions in all competitions since beating Manchester United in 2009.

Diogo Jota has won more fouls (25) in the Premier League this term than any other Liverpool player. Sadio Mane has conceded the most fouls for Liverpool in the competition (30).
