After Steph Curry made NBA history recently by setting a new record for three-pointers scored, we asked our friends at OPTA to help us discover which Chelsea players have excelled with shots outside the box during the Premier League era…

Curry’s achievement for the Golden State Warriors in December will have been noted by plenty of our current squad, who keenly follow events on the court across the Pond. It is simply the latest chapter in his incredible career, with his tally of 2,974 three-pointers further cementing his status as one of the greatest in the sport’s history.

For those of you not aware, in basketball you’re awarded two points for scoring in the zone inside the three-point line, and you get three points for every shot that goes in from outside the line.

The footballing equivalent of a three-pointer would be goals scored outside the 18-yard box, although obviously your reward is the same whether you put the ball in the net from one yard or 100 yards.

So, with that in mind, we decided to find out which Chelsea players have been the most prolific from outside the box in the Premier League since its inception in 1992 and which players have scored the highest percentage of their goals from long range.

Take on our quiz to see how many you can name and to find out more about those for whom distance was no obstacle to their path to goal.
