After being named in the starting team to make his debut against Chesterfield in the FA Cup this evening, we provide the lowdown on Lewis Hall, our latest Academy graduate…

From when he joined the club to where he can play, the below provides a quick overview on the 17-year-old as he prepares to run out for his boyhood club at Stamford Bridge for the very first time.

Among the substitutes today are Xavier Simons and Harvey Vale, who you can read more about here.

How old is Lewis Hall?

Hall only signed his scholarship at the club in the summer and celebrated his 17th birthday in early September, making him one of the oldest players in his age group.

What positions does Lewis Hall play?

Hall has featured in several positions this season for our academy teams, including left-back, wing-back and central midfield.

As a naturally left-footed player, he can operate anywhere on his favoured side of the pitch and also has the ability to play more box-to-box when in central areas. He makes his men's first team debut on the left of a back-three.

Where was Lewis Hall born and how long has he been at Chelsea?

Hall was born in Slough, a town in Berkshire about 20 miles west of SW6.

He joined Chelsea through our development centre programme, which transitions players from grassroots football into the academy system and helps them sign for professional clubs at the Under-9 age group, the earliest a player can be signed. He has been training at Cobham for the past decade.

How tall is Lewis Hall?

Not the tallest, Hall clocks in at 178.7cm (5ft 9in) but makes the most of his frame with a combative attitude and approach.

What is Lewis Hall’s record for our Academy teams so far this season?

Hall has made seven appearances for our Under-18s and 16 for the older age groups, scoring five goals in total.

He has represented the young Blues in the FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League and Papa John’s Trophy, competitions our involvement continues in as we begin the new year. Hall has also been on the bench for Thomas Tuchel’s senior side on three occasions prior to today.

What squad number does Lewis Hall wear?

At the start of each season, all Academy players are designated a shirt number ahead of their involvement in the EFL Trophy, which is treated as a senior competition. Hall has been given the number 75 this term, which he will wear this evening.
