Hazard turns down Magpies

Eden Hazard has reportedly turned down a return to the Premier League.

The Blues legend has been with Spanish giants Real Madrid since he departed Stamford Bridge but reports suggest he is unhappy in the Spanish capital.

According to MARCA, Newcastle United have made a huge bid to lure him to the North-East.

‘Eden Hazard appears to be edging ever nearer to an exit from Real Madrid, and Newcastle launched an ambitious bid for the Belgian which was accepted by Los Blancos but rejected by the player himself,’ the article states.

‘Newcastle are looking to strengthen during the January transfer window as they look for Premier League survival but have been thwarted in their effort to land the forward.

‘The Magpies launched an offer for 40m euros to Real Madrid plus add-ons which was looked upon favourably by Los Blancos but the Belgian was not keen on a move according to the Daily Mail.'

Though the current state of Newcastle’s league position, despite new owners, has reportedly put the Belgian off the move.

‘Hazard is looking for a transfer to a Champions League club and, with Newcastle far from that at this current point in time, it was not a realistic proposition for the former Chelsea forward,' added the report.

Fresh transfer link to La Liga defender

Chelsea are keeping tabs on Uruguay and Barcelona defender, Ronald Araujo.

The Mirror, who cite Spanish outlet SPORT, report that the club are already making moves to bring him to west London in the summer.

‘One Barcelona player who could swap Spain for west London is defender Ronald Araujo,’ the report states.

‘Spanish publication Sport claim that the Blues are one of many Premier League sides hoping to nab the 22-year-old.

‘Araujo’s contract runs out in 2023 and while the two sides are currently discussing an extension, they are not close to striking a deal,’ the report continues.

‘And Chelsea have reportedly have called the player to discuss a potential move in the summer when he enters the final year of his contract.’

Lampard considered for Toffees job

Blues legend and former manager Frank Lampard is reportedly set for an interview for the vacant managerial role at Everton.

Sky Sports report that he is amongst a list of candidates after Rafa Benitez’s dismissal last weekend.

‘Frank Lampard is expected to be interviewed for the Everton manager's job, with the club also discussing Wayne Rooney as a potential candidate,’ the report states.

‘Derby boss Rooney is understood to be happy and focused at Pride Park, but would find it difficult to turn Everton down considering his history and association with the club.

‘Lampard, meanwhile, has not been in a job since Chelsea sacked him in January last year.’

There are other names also on the list, according to Sky.

‘Everton have a shortlist drawn up which includes the two former England internationals, alongside Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez and Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked by Tottenham earlier this season.’
