With next week marking the start of the Lunar New Year, Chelsea Football Club is getting into the spirit of the occasion with a series of activities and displays at Stamford Bridge ahead of this weekend’s derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

Special pre-match top

To celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Tiger, the Blues will don a Lunar New Year-edition pre-match top when we warm-up on the pitch before the game.In addition to the branding of our club partners Nike and Trivago, these special tops also feature a unique illustration of a tiger’s head utilising a traditional Chinese paper-cutting technique widely seen during the Lunar New Year festivities. The symbols and elements in the illustration are meant to channel the champion spirit of the tiger, convey the feelings of pride and confidence and bring good luck for the new year. These tops feature the names of our players printed in Mandarin text on the back and will also be worn by our women’s team for the WSL match against Manchester City at Kingsmeadow on 6 February. For supporters who would like to purchase these special Lunar New Year-edition pre-match tops, a limited number will be available for sale at the Stamford Bridge Megastore and on our official online store from Friday 21 January onwards.
