Chelsea have Brazilian 'on radar'

Chelsea have Real Madrid defender Eder Militao in any ‘future plans’, according to reports.

Sport Witness claim the Brazilian is ‘on the radar’ of the west Londoners, after making huge impressions for the Spanish side under returning manager Carlo Ancelotti.

‘With Thomas Tuchel’s side possibly losing multiple central defenders on free transfers at the end of June, the Blues have of course been linked with players who could be replacements for any who leave,’ the report states.

‘Real Madrid’s Militao is one of those, and AS report the Brazilian is ‘in Chelsea’s future plans’. He’s ‘on the radar’ of the Premier League club, and any swoop would be impressive for Tuchel’s side.

‘That’s because the 24-year-old is really gaining prominence under Carlo Ancelotti in Madrid,’ the report continues. ‘He’s started 22 La Liga matches so far this season, and picked up a further 10 appearances in other competitions.

‘With a contract until 2025, Los Blancos are well protected, but Chelsea interest is said to be there nevertheless.’

Sule signs for Dortmund

Reported Chelsea target Niklas Sule will sign for Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer this summer, therefore ending any Blues interest in his signing.

Chelsea had been linked to the German centre-back in January and this report by the Express suggests we were ‘one of the clubs interested’ in his signature.

‘Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule will join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer this summer after the German side won the race for his signature,’ the report states.

‘Sule had been courted by Chelsea, Newcastle and Barcelona, but has decided to join Bayern’s rivals when his contract expires in July.

‘Sule has helped Bayern win four Bundesliga titles, two DFB-Pokals and the Champions League since joining the club from Hoffenheim,’ states the article.

‘Chelsea were one of the clubs interested in his services, with the Blues eager to explore options, given Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta will be out of contract in July.’

Wild scenes in Dakar

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was involved in some jubilant celebrations as he and his Senegal team-mates took the AFCON trophy back to Dakar.

The Lions of Teranga became champions of Africa for the first time in their history, with Mendy making a vital penalty save in the shoot-out.

In a video shared by Sky Sports on Twitter, the Senegal national team can be seen enjoying an open top bus parade with their fans.

Thousands of Senegal fans packed out the streets of Dakar to celebrate the title, with some fans even hanging onto streetlights and scaffolding as Edou Mendy danced on the roof of the bus.

Mendy will now link up with Chelsea for the remainder of the season, with the Blues currently in Abu Dhabi competiing for the Club World Cup.
