Emma Hayes’ side will be looking to win our first bit of silverware of the 2021/22 season when we face Gareth Taylor’s Manchester City side at Plough Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues will make the short journey across London to face Manchester City at AFC Wimbledon’s Cherry Red Records Stadium, kicking off at 5.15pm (UK time).

The form

Hayes’ side have been in fine form since the turn of the year, as we remain unbeaten in all competitions.

We have won six of our eight games so far in 2022, drawing just twice against Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal. The Blues have conceded just four times in all competitions since January.

In our last outing we beat Leicester City in the fifth round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup. The Blues ran out 7-0 winners in a dominant performance with braces from Pernille Harder and Sam Kerr and goals from Ji So-Yun, Aniek Nouwen and Bethany England.

City, meanwhile, go into the fixture full of confidence having most recently beaten rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup. Taylor’s side beat United 4-1 courtesy of four different goalscorers with Lauren Hemp, Ellen White, Caroline Weir and Kiera Shaw all getting on the scoresheet as City progressed through to the quarter-finals.

Chelsea Women v Manchester City head-to-head record

The teams last met in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League in February, a first-half header from Guro Reiten wrapped up a vital three points for the Blues as the race for the title gets closer.

We have won both of our games against City this season as the Blues also ran out winners at the Academy Stadium earlier in the season. Goals from Jessie Fleming, Sam Kerr, Fran Kirby and Magdalena Eriksson wrapped up an emphatic 4-0 win for Hayes’ side back in November.

We have a relentless run of fixtures in March and attention will turn straight back to Women’s Super League action as we face West Ham United away on Wednesday evening, kicking off at 7.30pm. The game will be available to watch live on Sky Sports.
