Our development squad face a big test in Leeds United this afternoon at Stamford Bridge, in a game where three points will go a long way in guiding the team towards safety.

Andy Myers and his men will take on the Whites at Stamford Bridge later this afternoon, as Chelsea look to steer clear of relegation from Premier League 2.

With a spirited performance and one point from the game against third-placed West Ham United last time out, obtaining three points from this clash will be in the eyes of the players and the coaching team.

Last time out

A factor that we can draw on is that in our most recent game against the team from Yorkshire we ran out 3-1 winners.

A Xavier Mbuyamba brace and a Lewis Baker penalty were enough to seal victory in a game that featured the likes of Tyler Roberts, Joe Gelhardt and Lewis Bate for our opponents.

Form

Despite our point in our last league fixture against West Ham, our last 10 games in the league have only seen two victories - a 5-0 win against Leicester City at the start of the year and the 3-1 win over Leeds.

Myers will be looking to instil a positive mindset on the boys and build on the good showing against the Hammers.

Away team threat

Our young Blues will be looking to go into this game with confidence but of course will be wary of the threat that the away team pose. They currently sit in 11th place on 23 points but have played two games more than our development squad.

In their last PL2 fixture, Leeds comprehensively beat Manchester United 3-0 so they will be full of confidence with that victory fresh in their minds.

With three wins in their last five games, they come into this one as the form team. However, Myers will be quick to remind his team that on their day they can beat anyone.

The clash kicks off at 1pm at the Bridge this afternoon. No tickets are available. Already purchased tickets remain valid.
