A defensive error as Cesar Azpilicueta was caught in possession at the back allowed Richarlison to score the only goal of the game just after half-time.

The Blues dominated large parts of the match and couldn't have come much closer to scoring, though, especially when chasing an equaliser in the second half, as Mason Mount saw his effort somehow hit both posts and stay out, while goalkeeper Jordan Pickford produced good saves to deny Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
