A long campaign came to a close at the weekend with a number of awards presented at our men’s team’s final game at Stamford Bridge, but there is still one left to decide – the winner of the 2021/22 Chelsea Goal of the Season.

There were certainly plenty of high points over the course of the last year, with our men’s senior side lifting the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, while Chelsea Women continued their recent successes by claiming a domestic Double of the Women’s Super League title and Women’s FA Cup, as well as our Under-18s’ triumph in the Premier League Cup.

There was no shortage of great goals along the way, but we have whittled the contenders down to a shortlist of eight strikes across our men’s, women’s and Academy sides. It now falls to you, the Chelsea supporters, to decide which of those eight is worthy of winning the award.

As was the case last year, the Goal of the Season voting will take place in a knock-out format. The eight contenders have been paired together to form four quarter-finals, with the voting now open for you to decide the winner of the first of them.

We open with a strong showing in the form of a pair of Premier League strikes from January, as Mateo Kovacic faces off against his team-mate Hakim Ziyech for a place in the Goal of the Season semi-finals.

The Croatian produced a spectacular volley to launch our fightback against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. With a few minutes left until half-time and the visitors ahead by two, the midfielder acted instinctively to loop an effort over a crowded penalty box and in off the right-hand post.

Ziyech had never previously scored in the Premier League at the Bridge but got his first in some style, curling a perfect shot from outside the box, which dipped just in time to creep inside the angle of post and crossbar. It left Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris rooted to the spot to break the derby deadlock.

But which of those two goals is your favourite? Watch them both in the videos and then cast your vote below to decide who makes it into the next round. Do not forget to check back tomorrow for the next of our Goal of the Season quarter-finals…

Voting closes at 11.59pm UK time on Wednesday evening.
