Chelsea FC Women forward Bethany England and goalkeeper Carly Telford are among the contenders for February’s PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the month award.
Both players have been nominated for their impressive performances in the Women’s Super League last month and fans have the chance to have their say by picking who they thought stood out the most.Other nominees for the monthly award are Rachel Furness of Liverpool, Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp, Martha Thomas of West Ham and Brighton’s Aileen Whelan.England has had a fantastic season for the Blues thus far and picked up this exact honour in January after a string of excellent Chelsea performances.Throughout February the 25-year-old found the net four times, she scored a brace against West Ham, fired home against Birmingham City and struck superbly in our top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City. She also turned provider for in our 8-0 thumping over the Hammers when she sent a low ball across the box for Guro Reiten to dink it over the goalkeeper.
England most recently scored two goals in the Continental League Cup final against Arsenal, including the stoppage time match-winner to ensure we came out as 2-1 victors.Telford has been in cracking form at the other end of the pitch in between the sticks and has kept a clean sheet in both of the two games she has played in. The shot-stopper played a part in our 8-0 drubbing against West Ham and ensured we came away with three points after making a couple of important saves in our meeting with Birmingham, a game that finished 2-0.Voting is now open and will close on Monday 16 March at 8am.
