The form
Following our terrific performance in the Women’s Champions League semi-final second leg on Sunday which resulted in a 4-1 victory (5-3 on aggregate), the Blues’ focus now shifts to capturing our fourth WSL title. Emma Hayes and her squad are hoping to claim the coveted quadruple that is still within our reach, having already picked up the Continental Tyres League Cup in February and the FA Community Shield in August.
Chelsea have won 10 out of our 12 WSL games in 2021, an impressive run that has seen them in pole position to clinch back to back league titles.
The opponent's in our way are Tottenham Hotspur. Rehanne Skinner's side progressed into the FA Cup fifth round with an extra-time winner against Reading in April, however they currently sit eighth in the league table. Their last outing against Manchester United ended in a 4-1 defeat, with Alanna Kennedy scoring a 93rd minute consolation goal. Spurs' last league win was in January, a 1-0 win against West Ham away from home, bookending a successful streak of three successive wins.
Still yet to claim their first home win in 2021, Tottenham have only picked up two points out of a possible 27. This run includes a 4-0 loss to the Blues at the end of January.
Tottenham Hotspur Women V Chelsea Women recent head-to-head record
Chelsea have faced Spurs twice this season, once in the Continental Cup - beating them 2-0 at Kingsmeadow - followed by a 4-0 league win, also at home. A brace from Melanie Leupolz, an own goal and a Sam Kerr effort separated the sides last time out.
Next up for the Blues
The next stop for Chelsea Women will be against Reading at Kingsmeadow on Sunday 9 May. All will be to play for in the final league match of the season. The kick-off is 2:30pm (UK).
