Our first winner Jone outscored more than 100,000 of his fellow Chelsea fans to top the leaderboard on the first matchday in our new Play Predictor game.
The new feature on The 5th Stand launched ahead of our opening fixture of the 2020/21 season, when Jorginho’s 23rd-minute penalty set us on our way to a 3-1 victory at Brighton on Monday evening.
An impressive 29,451 of the 107,964 fans taking part got that 3-1 scoreline right, but the first scorer proved a little trickier, with only 117 people correctly predicting that our captain on the night would get the opening goal. That compared with 74,857 who said Timo Werner would get the first goal on his competitive debut.
Our first matchday winner, Jone from Norway, was among the clever few who got both of those correct, on his way to a table-topping score of 80 points, winning himself a £100 Megastore voucher and signed Chelsea shirt in the process.
Jone said: ‘Some may say predicting Jorginho to score the first goal was just pure luck. Of course it was not. A Timo Werner debut sure smelled like a penalty to me.
‘After Jorginho buried the penalty in the very minute I had predicted, I knew that I was off to a good start, but I was amazed to see that I had won. I can't wait for the signed kit to arrive. It will have a special place on the wall where I watch Chelsea games.
‘I would like to give a shout-out to Chelsea for arranging this competition. It is nice to compete and connect with other Chelsea fans during these strange times we're in. Keep the blue flag flying high, and best of luck to everyone for the rest of the season!’
Play Predictor will reopen on The 5th Stand app on Friday 18 September at 4.30pm (UK time) for our next fixture against Liverpool, giving you another chance to join Jone in winning a matchday prize as well as being in contention for the monthly and ultimate end-of-season prizes, including a VIP matchday experience!
