Keira Walsh chipped in with an assist as England put six second-half goals past Ukraine in Turkey, while defender Veerle Buurman was on the scoresheet for the Netherlands in Tuesday evening's internationals.

Several Chelsea players have been involved in Tuesday evening's Women's European Qualifiers, which will run from February to December 2026 over six matchdays. At the end of that period, the teams earning places at the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil will be decided.

England head coach Sarina Wiegman selected Hannah Hampton in goal and also included Chelsea midfielder Keira Walsh in her starting XI to face Ukraine in Turkey. Fellow Blues Aggie Beever-Jones, Lucy Bronze and Lauren James were all named on the bench.

The Lionesses piled the pressure on Ukraine in the first half, but couldn't find a way through as they went in at the break with the score goalless, despite having 86 per cent of the ball. It seemed inevitable that England would eventually break the deadlock, and they did just that when Blues midfielder Keira Walsh played in Alessia Russo two minutes into the second half, and the striker delivered the finish.

Russo claimed her second when she got on the end of a Lauren Hemp cross after 51 minutes, but Ukraine hit back with a goal from Yana Kalinina with their first shot on target of the entire match. Any jeopardy was short-lived though, as Georgia Stanway converted a penalty and then added the fourth with a superb strike, and Chelsea duo James and Beever-Jones were introduced with just over 15 minutes of normal time to play.

Stanway was involved in the scoring once more when she assisted for Jess Park, and Beever-Jones went close in the closing stages with a neat volley at the near post. Park then completed her brace with a superb curling effort as the Lionesses ran out as 6-1 winners. Next up for England is a clash against Iceland at the City Ground on Saturday lunchtime.

Meanwhile, Germany got off to a flying start in their World Cup qualifying match against Slovenia, with Chelsea's Sjoeke Nusken starting in midfield. Christian Wuck's side opened the scoring after six minutes through Wolfsburg's Vivien Endemann, and doubled their lead soon afterwards thanks to Elisa Senss.

Slovenia stemmed the tide up until half-time, but then Germany began the second half with fresh impetus as Nusken played a through ball for Linda Dallmann, who finished from a tight angle to make it three after 48 minutes. Their fourth came just five minutes later through Larissa Muhlhaus' close-range effort, and Manchester United's Lea Schuller completed the 5-0 rout with a left-footed effort 19 minutes from time.

Up next for Germany is a trip to Norway, where Nusken will come up against Chelsea team-mate Guro Reiten on Saturday evening.

The Netherlands travelled to Gdansk in World Cup qualifying action, and both Veerle Buurman and Wieke Kaptein started against Poland. Yet Arjan Veurink's side suffered a tough start when the hosts took the lead after 24 minutes thanks to a strike from Barcelona's Ewa Pajor.

As the match ticked towards half-time, it was Blues defender Buurman who ensured that her side went in at the break on level terms. After the ball came out to her in the box from a corner, the 19-year-old powered a right-footed shot into the back of the net to score her first competitive international goal.

If the Netherlands' first was scored by a talented youngster, the second was netted by a player with vast experience. Veurink's side took the lead two minutes after the restart through former Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Manchester City midfielder Jill Roord, but Poland eventually fought back with an 84th minute equaliser through Paulina Tomasiak.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd started in Sweden's match away to Italy, with club team-mate Nathalie Bjorn having missed out on an international call-up due to injury.

The Swedes took the lead when Filippa Angeldahl struck from distance after 22 minutes, and held out for a 1-0 win. Their next qualifier will be against Serbia on Saturday afternoon.

Norway got their World Cup qualifying campaign off to a winning start thanks to a 1-0 win over Austria. Blues veteran Guro Reiten was introduced as a 71st-minute substitute, and with 81 minutes gone, Lisa Naalsund scored from inside the box to give the Norwegians the victory.

Reiten and her international team-mates will next face a home clash against Germany on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Livia Peng took her position in the Switzerland goal as Rafel Navarro's side played Northern Ireland in Lausanne. And the Blues stopper kept a clean sheet as the Swiss ran out 2-0 winners before they travel to Malta on Saturday for their second match of the international window.

Erin Cuthbert had been officially named Scotland's vice-captain ahead of their fixture with Luxembourg, and the Chelsea number eight was named in the starting XI for the World Cup qualifier.

It was certainly a night to remember as skipper Caroline Weir netted a hat-trick in a 5-0 victory with Cuthbert weighing in with two assists. Jenna Clark and Kathleen McGovern were also on the scoresheet in a big win before Scotland face the same opponent at Hampden Park on Saturday.

Finally, France faced the Republic of Ireland in Dublin, and Les Bleues were given a scare when Katie McCabe scored an opener for the home side after just 12 minutes. Chelsea's Sandy Baltimore provided the assist for Melvine Malard as France finally equalised after 71 minutes, and Malard was on hand once again eight minutes later as Laurent Bonadei's side took the win.

France will now return home, where they will play Poland in Dijon on Saturday evening.
