Avanti West Coast has advised us they are expecting to cancel a number of services on the Manchester train route on Saturday.

This includes the last train of the day (20:15 Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston) which may affect Chelsea fans travelling back from the game at Manchester City. This is due to a shortage of train crew as a result of high levels of sickness and annual leave, and Avanti West Coast apologises for the disruption to impacted customers.

They strongly recommend those fans, who are booked to travel, consider alternative means of transport and claim a full refund. Those who are able to do so can use their tickets to return on Sunday as an alternative.

There are rail replacement buses for customers impacted by the 20:15 cancellation, and a station management plan is in place to help customers at the station.

Chelsea Football Club understands the difficulties this may create for supporters attending our game at the Etihad Stadium. We will remain in contact with Avanti West Coast and will relay any further information should we receive it.
