This season couldn’t have started much better for Aggie Beever-Jones. With three goals in our opening three games, the striker has been a crucial factor in the Blues establishing ourselves atop the Women’s Super League table.

And if Beever-Jones nets against West Ham United tomorrow, she will become the first Chelsea player to score in each of our opening four games of a WSL campaign.

Yet the England international, who was part of the squad that won this summer's Women's European Championship, is too busy enjoying the game to be focused on breaking records.

‘It's been great,’ says the striker when asked about her start to the campaign. ‘I'm really enjoying my football at the moment, coming off the back of a very busy summer and getting back into the swing of things.

‘It's the players around me who've been feeding me and putting me into good positions, and I've been grateful to put those chances away and contribute where I can.

‘I don't try to think too much about the records. I just try and play my game. I mean, it would be a great thing to do, but who knows what will happen. Hopefully I can.’

Chelsea have had to dig in and battle hard for our opening three wins, with Manchester City, Aston Villa and Leicester City putting up good fights before eventually being defeated.

Sonia Bompastor has said our performances are a work in progress and Beever-Jones sees every match as a fresh chance to improve on what has come before. And when you’ve taken maximum points thus far, there's a steady platform to keep working from.

‘Every year, as the WSL goes on, the quality is getting better,' Beever-Jones explains. 'We've won a Treble and teams want to come to beat Chelsea and do what they can. They're going to sit in low blocks. I think you saw that at the weekend against Leicester. They did a good job.

‘But it's all part of it. The league's more competitive, and there are no easy games, especially with teams that want to come and prove a point.

‘You can't underestimate any team at the moment. West Ham will put up a fight; they're a team that wants to prove people wrong, they want to stay up, and it's something that we need to be aware of. But equally, we know how to exploit them.

‘We're in a good place, and we’re looking forward to seeing where we can improve. I think it'll be a great game. Hopefully, we can get some goals and have a good team performance.

‘We are changing formations, and we're adapting to new styles. You look at the first three games, and we haven’t lost, but other sides have dropped points. Albeit those might not have been our best performances, but it's something to build on, and we know where we want to get to.

'I have no concern that we won't get there. We just have to keep pushing and looking at where we can improve. I'm very confident in this Chelsea team.’
