Aggie Beever-Jones was a Chelsea fan before she became a player for the club. Today, the 21-year-old lifted the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium in front of our supporters.
It was Beever-Jones who scored the stoppage-time winner that sent Chelsea to Wembley, her last-gasp effort securing a 1-0 win against Liverpool at Kingsmeadow in the semi-final.
Her goals have helped us secure a domestic Treble this season, and after the win over Manchester United, she was struggling to process what has been a record-breaking campaign.
'I'm delighted,' she said. 'I don't think it's quite hit me yet, because coming away from the season with three domestic trophies is an incredible statement.
'We've only done it once before. This morning Sonia said it was our chance to make history.
'I look at the girls here; we’ve been through this together. I think today's performance was incredible. There were bodies on the line, the whole game.
'This was a special day for me. I’ve been on the bench a few times here and was itching to get on and today, I got the start. I was delighted.'
The striker knows exactly what the supporters are hoping for in terms of performance from this team, after all, she is one of them.
It's been a long season for this team. Going unbeaten in every domestic competition has been a gruelling feat. For Beever-Jones, the overriding feeling at the final whistle was relief.
'I look back and actually, that was a proper Chelsea performance,' she grins. 'I think a few other girls looked at each other today, their expressions said well done and it was just a big release that we did it.
'Being unbeaten domestically is incredible and we’ve got one trophy [the Champions League] that we couldn’t quite get this year, but it’s something to push on and look forward to. Today, we’re going to celebrate and enjoy it.'
After two narrow 1-0 wins over Manchester United, the striker knew Marc Skinner's side would be no pushovers.
The task was even more difficult considering they were defending the trophy after a 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in last season's FA Cup final.
'We always knew we were capable of winning today, but whether we could go out and do it was a different story,' Beever-Jones continued. 'United were obviously going to come out fighting today and wanted to retain their trophy. They did put up a really good fight and I'm just happy we put the game to bed.
'To get the second and third goals was incredible. I can't wait to celebrate with the girls.
'I’m immensely proud of all the records we broke this year, and I know for myself it’s something to add to my personal collection, that we are FA Cup winners. I'm so excited to celebrate that with my family.'
