Aggie Beever-Jones believes the unity and belief within the Chelsea squad were crucial to our triumph at the World Sevens Football tournament, which saw the Blues crowned champions after a dramatic final victory over Manchester United.
Making our debut in the seven-a-side competition, the Blues won each of our five matches, defeating fellow Women's Super League sides Everton, Leicester City, London City Lionesses, Aston Villa, and lastly Manchester United.
There was a breathtaking climax in the final as, just as it appeared the contest might be heading to a sudden-death extra-time, Beever-Jones popped up a dramatic winner to end the tournament with the MVP and Golden Boot awards.
The three-day tournament had seen a mixture of good fun and good football, and ended with a familiar sight: Chelsea lifting the trophy.
Our Academy graduate proved to be the standout performer, with seven goals and six assists across the competition. Yet she wasn't taking herself too seriously after the victory.
'I think I enjoyed myself a little bit too much!' she joked. 'I was messing around with Maya (Le Tissier of Manchester United) the whole game, but I think if I could play another sport, it would be this. It's absolute chaos – and I'm absolutely exhausted!
'We didn't really know what to expect. And if I'm honest, watching United in the group stages, we were worried. They're very, very good at this. I think we were four-one down at one point, and we came back to win it.
'It shows how close we are as a team and how much we believe in one another.'
There was another inventive pre-match walkout ahead of the final, as Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor came out with a television camera to film a series of freeze-frames from players and staff.
'We have a group chat, and we were firing in loads of ideas,' Beever-Jones explained. 'Sonia's enjoying herself so much, but I think it just shows how much of a team we are and how much we love being with one another. I think you saw it today: the togetherness to come back and win it.
'I had the time of my life, and I loved it, I'm sad it's over, to be fair.'
