Joining our Academy as an Under-11, Gilchrist was developed through the youth ranks at Cobham and signed his first professional contract in November 2020.

He ended that campaign as our Scholar of the Year and captained our Under-18s to the FA Youth Cup semi-finals during the following season while also featuring for our Under-21s.

Gilchrist was handed a place in the senior match-day squad for the penultimate Premier League game of that campaign, which was away at Manchester United.

Gilchrist made 17 senior appearances for the Blues the following season and netted one goal, a memorable strike in a victory over Everton.

Gilchrist spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Sheffield United, making 32 appearances to help the Blades reach the Championship play-off final.
