The newly-promoted Tigers have made an impressive start to the campaign. They have taken seven points from their opening three fixtures and are yet to concede a goal.

We enter today’s contest following a come-from-behind victory over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Alonso has made nine changes to the side that started in midweek, with only Levi Colwill and Malo Gusto keeping their places.

That means our starting XI consists of Emi Martinez, Wesley Fofana, Colwill, Jorrel Hato, Malo Gusto, captain Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Gusto, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro.

It’s a side full of quality, but Alonso knows the Blues will need to produce another high-tempo performance to claim all three points.

‘We come from an intense game against Leeds on Wednesday, but all of them are fine and it’s a good team for today,’ Alonso said ahead of the game.

‘We are hoping for a win; let’s see how we make it. For sure it’s going to be tough and Hull City have started really well. But if we are on top of our game and play with good tempo and concentration, we will have a good chance.’

We have yet to keep a clean sheet this term, something Alonso discussed in the build-up to the game. Yet the Spaniard is not fixated on a shutout, with his primary focus on claiming victory.

‘First the win, and then if we can win with a clean sheet then that’s better,’ he said.
