Moises Caicedo marked his 100th appearance for Chelsea in style by scoring in our 5-1 win over West Ham on Friday night, and to mark that milestone we have sourced quotes from those who know him best – and others who watch the midfielder from afar. They all serve to underline just how good Caicedo is.

The Ecuadorian joined Chelsea almost exactly two years ago and has since gone from strength to strength. Caicedo is an invaluable member of our side and has established himself as one of the world’s best midfielders in the process.

Despite the combative nature of his game and the area of the pitch in which he works, Caicedo is also impressively durable. He has featured in all but two of our league fixture since signing, with only two of those appearances coming off the bench.

But don’t take these accolades from us. Here is what the experts, ranging from Enzo Maresca to Cole Palmer and Claude Makelele, have said about Caicedo over the period of his 100 Chelsea matches...

Enzo Maresca

‘He is one of the best, if not the best, defensive midfielder in the world. He is doing fantastic. The best thing about Moi is that every day he is working serious. He is very humble, very kind, polite. He is a fantastic guy.’

Enzo Fernandez

‘Sharing the pitch with Moi is incredible. I insisted a lot that he came to Chelsea when the club went to sign him. Now he's here, you can see he's not a normal player.

‘He is a great person as well and he brings us a lot as a team and as a team-mate. We are getting on very well. Every day we understand each other more. He is an exceptional player. I hope to share many years with him on the pitch here at Chelsea.’

Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele

‘With Caicedo, I love this boy. He's humble and hard-working. I talked with him before he arrived at Chelsea and he told me I was his example. I’m sure he can be a success at Chelsea because he’s a good player.

‘He has a lot of talent. Moi is humble, he plays with a smile and works hard for his team-mates. I did that when I was playing, enjoyed myself, and he has the passion and is a fighter. I think the passion and the fight is just as important as talent.’

Cole Palmer

‘He’s a machine, he wins everything back always. Always 100 per cent every day, humble, nice to everyone and everyone loves him.’

Reece James

‘He’s grown so much as a person and as a player. He is key to our team. He’s a phenomenal player, up there with the best midfielder in the world.’

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy

‘I think he’s our most important player. People will argue [Cole] Palmer, I get that and understand that. I think he’s our most important player because there’s so much he can do and does do.

‘We’ve not seen the likes in the middle of the park winning the ball like that since [N’Golo] Kante. I’m not just talking about Chelsea, I’m talking about in the league.’

Levi Colwill

‘You just rely on him. Even when I know I have made a mistake, I have always known he is there to cover me in midfield.

'In my opinion, he is worth every pound that was spent on him. He is a very good player.’

Former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley

‘The job Caicedo does off the ball is amazing. He’s like a leech. You can’t get away from him. He gets these tackles in where you think, ‘How has he done that?’.'

Marc Cucurella

‘He is very important, he is very relaxed. He shows everything on the pitch, he’s very hard-working and he’s a very important piece for us. I think he’s one of the main talents of the team and he shows every game what he can give to us.’

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf

‘He is the masterpiece right now. If you have somebody like Caicedo, like you had in N’Golo Kante before, it makes a difference.

‘The guy is a game changer. He’s always there, he always gets control of the ball, when he has the ball he never loses it, he is amazing.’
