Chelsea can confirm Dutch international Aniek Nouwen has departed the club.

The 26-year-old has returned to PSV Eindhoven, the club from which she arrived at Chelsea when she signed for us in 2021.

Her first start for the Blues came against Leicester City in October 2021, before the defender scored her first two goals for Chelsea against the Foxes; one in the FA Cup and one in a Women’s Super League clash later that season.

Nouwen was selected to start in the FA Cup final in 2022, and played 69 minutes in the 3-2 win that secured a league-and-cup double that year.

Limited playing time in her second season with Chelsea prompted a loan to AC Milan in January 2023, with her run in the Italian side helping the Rossonere to a third-place finish in Serie A.

Back with the Blues for the 2023/24 season, Nouwen unfortunately suffered an ACL injury in December 2023 while on international duty with the Netherlands Under-23 team.

Following her recovery, she joined Crystal Palace in January 2025, making four Women’s Super League appearances for the Eagles in the final stages of last season.

Whilst at Chelsea, Nouwen represented the Netherlands senior side at the Women’s World Cup in 2023 and has made a total of 43 appearances for her national team.

Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Aniek all the best for this new chapter in her career.
