Tino Anjorin is one of seven players to have been nominated for January’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

The 18-year-old midfielder has featured in two of the four PL2 fixtures this month, missing out on the opening two games against Tottenham and Man City due to injury. As he gained fitness he appeared for the Under-18s at Aston Villa and broke the deadlock at Bodymoor Heath.

Two of Anjorin’s three PL2 goals in the month of January came against Everton, the first a minute after half-time and sparked a Chelsea comeback before the second of the evening, from the penalty spot, put Andy Myers’s team ahead in Southport before the Toffees agonisingly equalised five minutes later, the game ended level.

Anjorin’s third goal of the month came in our most recent fixture, a draw against Leicester City at Aldershot – his excellent solo effort opened the scoring on the night. The England Under-19 international also had a hand in our second goal, his unstoppable run from inside his own half inspired the Blues up field for Henry Lawrence to apply the finishing touches.

Anjorin has five goals in 10 PL2 appearances and is joined on the shortlist by Matthew Smith (Arsenal), Admiral Muskwe (Leicester City), Ben Knight (Manchester City), Shae Hutchinson (Norwich City), Liam Cullen (Swansea City), Rayhaan Tullock (West Bromwich Albion).

The shortlist was chosen by the Premier League Football Development panel after PL2 club coaches nominated the best performances by opposing players in each league fixture in January. The award, already won by Chelsea's Billy Gilmour earlier this season, will also chosen by the panel and will be announced in due course.
