After the Southampton game, Frank Lampard reported that Marcos Alonso missed that encounter due to a muscle injury he had picked up at Tottenham but the defender could be back for Arsenal. However Reece James will not have recovered sufficiently from an ankle problem. Mateo Kovacic returns having served a one-match suspension on Boxing Day.
Latest Arsenal team news
Gunners defender Calum Chambers is available again after suspension. Forward Gabriel Martinelli is a doubt due to a hamstring injury which kept him out of their Boxing Day draw at Bournemouth. Defenders Rob Holding (knee), Sead Kolasinac (ankle) and Kieran Tierney (shoulder) are all out.
