The 20-year-old midfielder has been with Chelsea since the age of seven and signed her first professional contract with the club during the 2023/24 campaign, and that contract was extended by a further year in summer 2025.

Akpan has made 13 appearances with Southampton in WSL 2 during the first half of the campaign, and now returns to the Blues.
