The Barclays Women’s Super League returns after the international break with Chelsea looking to continue our unbeaten start to the season away at Aston Villa on Saturday.

We earned 10 points from 12 available from our opening four league matches of the campaign with victories over Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion accompanied by a hard-fought point on the road against Manchester City.

Prior to the international break, Sjoeke Nusken stole the show by scoring a hat-trick which helped the Blues overcome Brighton 4-2 at Kingsmeadow. It was also a memorable day for young forward Aggie Beever-Jones who netted her first senior goal for Chelsea and our fourth of the afternoon.

A busy November will see the Blues play six matches across the WSL and UEFA Women’s Champions League, starting with the trip to Aston Villa on Saturday where we will be looking to maintain an unbeaten start to our title defence.

When and where?

We travel to Aston Villa in the WSL at the Poundland Bescot Stadium this Saturday 4 November, with kick-off scheduled for 12.30pm (UK time).

How to follow

As always, you can follow the game via Chelsea Women’s social media channels. There will be live commentary on our Twitter page and regular updates on Facebook and Instagram. Simply search ‘ChelseaFCW’ on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. For supporters who cannot attend the match, this will be available to watch live on Sky Sports.

The form

We go into the game against Aston Villa sitting second in the league table with three wins and one draw from our opening four league matches. We have scored nine goals and conceded four in that time and trail leaders Manchester City by three on goal difference.

Maren Mjelde comes into this match on 74 appearances for Chelsea in the Women’s Super League. If she features she will become the 12th player to reach 75 appearances in the WSL for the Blues, the most of any club.

Aston Villa have endured a difficult start to the new season having impressed with a fifth place finish at the end of the 2022/23 campaign. Carla Ward’s side occupy 11th place ahead of the weekend where they will be looking to register their first points on the board.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea recent head-to-head record

During the 2022/23 campaign, we came up against Aston Villa on three separate occasions starting with a 3-1 victory in the WSL at Kingsmeadow on 30 October. Lauren James netted a brace either side of Rachel Daly’s finish, before Sam Kerr put the icing on the cake to seal the points.

At the start of April, we travelled to the Midlands for the reverse fixture where we secured a 3-0 victory in front of the Sky cameras. Strikes from Jelena Cankovic and Guro Reiten were accompanied by a 50th WSL goal for Kerr.

Two weeks later, we were back at the Poundland Bescot for the FA Cup semi-final where we were made to work for a one-goal victory. Kerr headed the winner on the hour mark to send us to the final, where the Australian scored the only goal as we lifted our third consecutive FA Cup trophy.

Next up for the Blues

Following the trip to Aston Villa, we are on the road once again when we make the long journey north to face Everton in the WSL at Walton Hall Park on Sunday 12 November.

Kick-off for this one is scheduled for 1.00pm (UK time) and for supporters who are unable to attend the match, this will be available to watch via the FA Player platform.
