After netting a second goal in successive Champions League matches, striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reflected on a thoroughly professional outing in Milan after the game.

It was an electric atmosphere inside the San Siro as the hosts looked to get revenge on our 3-0 victory in last Wednesday’s reverse fixture.

That atmosphere was quickly tamed, however, around 18 minutes into the contest after referee Daniel Siebert decided to send off Fikayo Tomori for pulling back Mason Mount.

That then gave the Blues a goal and a man advantage early on, and Aubameyang cites managing the hostile atmosphere as a key factor in our victory.

‘We’re very pleased. We did very well as we knew it would be a tough atmosphere with their fans. We managed this so well, played with character and got a big win,’ he said post-match.

‘It definitely changed the game [Fikayo Tomori’s sending off]. We can only be happy with this decision. We played very well from then on with an extra player. We controlled the ball and scored a second.’

Mount was the player to set up Aubameyang to make it three goals in his last three starts, and the Gabonese forward admits it is a joy to play with him when he is in the form he is in right now.

‘It is always nice to play with players like Mason. I think we have a great team, I am happy to be here,’ he added.

‘I have got rid of my mask, so I’m enjoying it!’ Auba joked. ‘I am here to do my job which is to score goals.’
