Chelsea have been a near constant presence in the Champions League over the past two decades thanks to our consistent high finishes in the Premier League.

While we may have needed a bit of help from our rivals to get over the line at the end of a gruelling 2020/21 campaign, the Blues were able to secure a top-four position for the 15th time in 18 seasons, edging fifth placed Leicester City by a single point.

It is the second consecutive season in which we have finished fourth, a position we managed on two other occasions in the Premier League in 1997/98 and famously in 2002/03, when we beat Liverpool 2-1 in our final game to edge them for a Champions League spot.

Our most frequent end-of-season Premier League finishes have been as champions in 2005, 2006, 2010, 2015 and 2017, or in third place, where we finished in 1999, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2011.

The Blues have also been runners-up four times in 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2011.

If you include our top-flight performance before the formation of the Premier League in 1992, our most regular positions have been third or sixth, which we have managed eight times each.
