Benoit Badiashile has revealed his excitement at working with 'legend of the game' Thiago Silva after joining Chelsea from Monaco.

The French defender, who was on the bench against Manchester City at the weekend, penned a deal until 2030 at Stamford Bridge last week and has spoken of his delight at joining the Blues and why he can't wait to get to work with his new team-mates.

'It's a pleasure to be here at Chelsea,' said Benoit after finalising his move last week.

'It's a huge club. I've followed Chelsea for a long time and I admire the rich history of the club, so it's a pleasure to be able to play here.

'Chelsea is a great club with great players. I remember watching players like John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba when I was younger and it's a real joy to be able to play for a team that used to have players like this in the changing room.'

In terms of the current squad, Benoit revealed he is familiar with one member while he confirmed his excitement at getting to work with another defender at Cobham.

'I know Wesley [Fofana] very well,' added Badiashile. 'He and I have played together for the national team, so I'm really happy to be able to join him here.

'Then there are some really big names here in the dressing room, like Thiago Silva who is an absolute legend of the game.

'He's a player I look up to and I'm really happy to have the opportunity to work with him and hopefully play next to him.'
