Melvine Malard started and scored and Sandy Baltimore registered an assist as France recorded a dominant 9-0 friendly victory over Latvia, but there was disappointment for Alyssa Thompson and the USWNT against Spain.

Malard has made an impressive start to life at Chelsea after joining the Blues from Manchester United in the summer, and she maintained her goalscoring form on the international stage this evening.

France established an early two-goal lead after Kadidiatou Diani and Anaele Le Moguedec found the net, and Malard grabbed France's third in the 20th minute.

Grace Geyoro, a second from Le Moguedec and a strike from Oceane Hurtre ensured France had effectively secured victory by the half-time interval, at which a raft of changes were made, including the departure of Malard and the introduction of Baltimore.

The Blues winger made an impact by creating France's seventh goal of the night, scored by Kelly Gago. Clara Mateo and Marie-Antoinette Katoto also netted in the second period to ensure a dominant final score.

Across the Atlantic in Washington, D.C., the United States' friendly against Spain ended in a 2-0 defeat for Blues winger Thompson.

The 21-year-old started for the USWNT, but they fell two goals behind after 14 minutes. It was a position from which they couldn't recover and Thompson played 67 minutes before being replaced by Ashley Sanchez.

Meanwhile, Becky Spencer started in goal for Jamaica as they recorded a 4-3 victory away at Mexico.

The Blues goalkeeper had a hand in her country's final goal, with a raking pass forward beginning an attack that saw Solai Washington convert Jamaica's fourth of the night.
