Nathalie Bjorn felt Chelsea's 1-0 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge was the perfect way to finish our triumphant Women’s Super League campaign, before lifting the trophy in front of our home support.

There could still be glory to come for the Blues in 2024/25, as we take on Manchester United in the Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley this coming Sunday, but on Saturday at the Bridge it was all about celebrating an incredible season in the WSL.

Our final league game of the season was in front of more than 20,000 fans at Stamford Bridge as hosted Liverpool. Having gone undefeated in our previous 21 matches in that competition, we completed the job as Aggie Beever-Jones struck an injury-time winner, giving us 19 victories from 22 WLS games in 2024/25. Crucially, no defeats.

‘Sunday was a really great atmosphere,’ said Bjorn.

‘And to finish off with a goal right at the end of the game was an amazing feeling. It really made a difference to score that goal.

‘We wanted to win the league. We wanted to end on a high. We wanted to win at home. And then being unbeaten throughout the whole league season and breaking the record and all that comes with it.’

Our dramatic victory was also the perfect way to end the campaign, and set the mood for the celebrations which followed, as captain Millie Bright hoisted the WSL trophy aloft on the Stamford Bridge pitch.

‘It's been incredible,’ added our Swedish defender, who a week earlier had received our Players' Player of the Year award.

‘I mean, there were so many people still there in the stands a long time after the game and it was just absolutely amazing to be able to celebrate with them.’

Hopefully there will be more celebrations with those fans still to come for Bjorn and her Chelsea team-mates, this time at Wembley after Sunday’s FA Cup final.
