Thomas Tuchel’s side won the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge in October 3-1 thanks to goals from Trevoh Chalobah, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell. Saints' goal came from a James Ward-Prowse penalty.

Our sides also met in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup later the same month. The Blues eventually won on a penalty shoot-out after the game ended 1-1.
