The outcome of Chelsea FC Women’s clash with Manchester City this evening could prove pivotal in the race for the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title, but Millie Bright says the Blues remain focused on the task at hand.

There are two points separating Chelsea and Manchester City and just two league fixtures left to play following tonight’s top-of-the-table clash at The Academy Stadium.A win for either side could ultimately determine who will be crowned winners of this year’s WSL, however Blues vice-captain Bright says the only thing on Chelsea players’ minds is preparing for the game against our Manchester opponents. She said: ‘It is a big game, but we are doing what we do every single week, which is playing 90 minutes of football.‘We have to remain focused on the task ahead, remain calm leading up to it and enjoy the game.‘I don’t think it needs any extra pressure added onto it, it’s always a big game between Chelsea and Manchester City.‘We’ve taken it game by game and that’s been our mentality throughout the whole season. We didn’t want to rely on anyone else’s performances, that was our goal.‘We wanted to depend on ourselves only, it was game by game and that’s the mentality that we will carry out until the end of the season.’

Chelsea came out on top when the two sides last met, with the Blues earning a dramatic 4-2 extra-time victory in the Continental Tyres League Cup at The Academy Stadium in January. The last WSL encounter also ended in similar fashion, with Emma Hayes’ side securing a 3-1 win at Kingsmeadow in October, but Bright believes past results will have no bearing on the outcome of tonight’s mouth-watering encounter.‘We are in a great place mentally and the group is really confident,’ added Bright. 'We’ve had some amazing performances, but I think you have to put past games into the past because that’s where they belong.‘We have to continue looking forward, we’ve beaten them in the past, but they have also beat us. It’s not to be taken for granted and they are just as threatening as we are.’This evening’s match kicks-off at 6pm and is available to watch live on BT Sport.
