England secured a 1-0 victory against Croatia in their first game of the European Under-17 Championship this evening, with four members of the Chelsea Academy featuring for the Young Lions.

Four Blues were involved in this evening's opening group game as Somto Boniface, Josh-Kofi Acheampong, Michael Golding and Kiano Dyer all got off to a good start to the tournament in Hungary.

Boniface, Acheampong and Golding all started the match, before Dyer came on for Golding late on in the game.

Golding had a great opportunity to double England's lead from the penalty spot but he failed to convert from 12 yards out, with the keeper saving his effort just before the half-time break.

Despite that, England controlled the lion's share of the possession as they secured a hard-fought three points thanks to Arsenal forward Ethan Nwaneri's early goal.

Their next game will be against the Netherlands on Sunday 21 May with kick-off scheduled for 7pm UK time.
