Buurman was awarded the Rising Star award for the 2025/26 campaign after a standout season in Blue. The defender arrived at Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven at the beginning of the 2024/25 season and was immediately loaned back to her hometown club for the full campaign.

This season, she has played her way into Sonia Bompastor's plans and has made 12 appearances in the WSL. Buurman featured 23 times in all competitions for the Blues, scoring one goal - a sublime 84th-minute winner against Tottenham, which sent us to the Women's FA Cup semi-final.

Buurman has also made 16 appearances for the Netherlands and scored two goals since making her debut in October 2024.

The 20-year-old had a Cruyff Court community pitch named after her in Eindhoven earlier this year after winning the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year Award in 2025.

Meanwhile, Alyssa Thompson was also named in the WSL Team of the Season after a superb debut campaign for Chelsea.

After making the move from Angel City FC in the summer, the American hit the ground running, scoring her debut WSL goal in our pivotal clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in November.

With 19 league appearances under her belt, Thompson has scored seven times and provided three assists in the WSL, as she successfully made her mark in her new country.

It was confirmed earlier today that Hannah Hampton had been awarded the WSL Golden Glove for the second season running after keeping eight clean sheets in 2025/26, and the goalkeeper was also named in the WSL team of the season in this evening's ceremony.

Meanwhile, two former Blues were officially inducted into the WSL Hall of Fame on the evening. The late Matt Beard was honoured for his incredible contribution to women's football as manager of Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham United, while Chelsea youth product Casey Stoney was recognised for a stellar career in the women's game.
