With Mamadou Sarr returning to Chelsea earlier this week, Blues players and staff were quick to welcome the defender back by celebrating his recent Africa Cup of Nation success.

Sarr was part of the Senegal team that won the 2025 AFCON on January 19 with a 1-0 win over Morocco thanks to Pape Gueye's extra-time goal.

After replacing former Blues defender Kalidou Koulibaly early into the semi-final, Sarr then started the final and played the full 120 minutes in Rabat.

Sarr joined Chelsea in June and was part of our squad as we lifted the Club World Cup, making his debut as a late substitute against ES Tunis.

The 20-year-old then spent the first half of this season on loan at Strasbourg, where he made 18 appearances in all competitions and captained the Ligue 1 side in the majority of those games.

Sarr was recalled by Chelsea on the final day of the winter transfer window and returned to training with the rest of the Blues squad this week.

And his Chelsea team-mates quickly made him feel back at home as they presented him with a framed shirt to celebrate his AFCON victory.
