Bethany England has challenged Chelsea FC Women to take our impressive performance from our victory over Arsenal into today’s league clash with Bristol City.

The Blues remain at the top of the table and head into our away fixture with Bristol full of confidence following Wednesday’s 3-0 win over the Gunners.Emma Hayes’ side face a Bristol team which have had an upturn in results in recent weeks but we are targeting another three points this afternoon.England said: ‘We’ve seen with our game against Brighton that we can’t underestimate any team, not like we did that, but our performance just wasn’t up to scratch.‘It was a shame because I felt our performance before that was so good and we didn’t manage to take that into the Brighton game so we are looking to take the good performance against Arsenal into Bristol.‘We know that they have been doing good of late, and they also reached the Continental Cup final as well so we know it’s not going to be a walk over and we will be prepared for that.’

A huge factor in Bristol’s recent results has been the form of Ebony Salmon with the forward netting four goals in their last four outings.Salmon’s contribution has helped the hosts earn a vital league victory over Brighton and also earn a place alongside Chelsea in this year’s Continental League Cup final and England says the Blues will have to keep a close eye on the in-form striker.‘We’ve seen Ebony Salmons pace up top and her clinical finishing has helped Bristol do really well.‘I think she’s by far their biggest threat but we have to stick to our game plan and do what we can to break them down and put the ball into the back of the net and keep them out of ours.‘As you’ve seen with this league before, it can come down to goal difference so as long as we are keeping clean sheets and putting them in at the other end, that’s the most important thing.’

Following today’s game, England along with other members of the Blues squad will report for international duty and the striker wants to sign off on a high.‘We want to win and keep climbing that ladder, and three points on Sunday will be a great thing to get going into the international break,’ England said.‘Everyone can then switch into international mode and go knowing that no stone has been left unturned and we want to make sure we are in high spirits going into international break.‘Fingers crossed everyone returns fit and healthy ready for the next league fixtures.’Today’s game kicks-off at 3pm and you can watch the game live on the FA Player.
